Fremont, CA, 10/1/2010 - LAUNCH OF A LOCATION-BASED, PERSONALIZED TRAVEL INTELLIGENCE SERVICE
Travel intelligence for the people, by the people, of the people and then some…
Travel information, while ubiquitous on the web, tends to be copious, impersonal and more often than not, irrelevant. The best information would be one that provides intelligence about places, catering in a personalized sense to the interests of the person looking for it. An added advantage would be to know of things to do while there given the person’s interests, time on hand and possible rebates and discounts from businesses in the area to sweeten the deal. Above all, this information needs to be authentic, verifiable and usable. There should also be an incentive for people sharing it with others, and it needs to be portable. These are the exact elements of a new free service being released to the public domain through ilikethisplace.com.
Outlining the genesis and market need for such a service, the founder, highlighted a personal experience traveling to Austin, Texas and said “I wanted to get coffee at a good local establishment and see a place of historic interest in the 4 hours I had to spend there, but could not find any relevant information to accomplish my travel goals. The travel sites and the search engine gave me an information overload but not what I was looking for – something that cares for my interests and delivers me actionable intelligence! I decided then and there to do something about it so that I spare other fellow travelers this predicament and help them get the information they desire, in the format they want and that which is personalized to them!”
Often, travelers find themselves in situations where they do not have actionable information about the places they are in. The information available does not address their interests directly and does not take into account their situation, it is just not personalized or tailored to the person’s interests, time on hand and other pertinent parameters. This predicament, from personal experience, prompted the founders to create an ecosystem to collect, reward and disseminate personalized travel intelligence. The information sources for this domain, today, only create an information overload be they search engines or travel sites that are woefully bereft of actionable, personalized information. This service, being released to the public domain, on Oct 1st, 2010, address this overriding need and a strong desire to minimize the travel predicament the majority of travelers face.
Ilikethisplace.com is available for all folks starting 1st, October, 2010. Founded in 2009, after a travel snafu, ilikethisplace.com is a comprehensive ecosystem for users, businesses to share information on places, search for places and plan trips with added incentives for all actions.
